Let's just face it. We love our movies, even though production companies can sometimes stab us in the back. Come on. You know what I mean. It happens all the time. Hell, DISNEY does it all the time, with this formula:
Part One: Release a movie
Part Two: Wait to see public opinion on it. This takes anywhere from weeks to years.
Part Three: If reviews = good, a sequel is in order.
I'm NOT saying this is bad. Not at all. I'm not saying it's always good, either.
My case in point: Pocahontas II.
Rarely do we see the Disney peeps acknowledge a screw-up so blatantly. Most of their movies has the typical "And now..our feature presentation" intro-thingy. Not so with P2, which got labelled as "Feature Program". Odd, I think. Besides Disney, other companies have hopped on the Sequel Bandwagon. Usually it's for animated films. For Kids. Like the Never Ending Land Before Time saga. Hey, it's for the kids. They love this stuff, so why not make more $ for it?
On the other hand some sequel ideas are just stupid, like Baby Geniuses 2. Did anyone even see it? Honestly?
Then there's Son Of The Mask. Don't get me wrong, it was funny as hell at times. But really, I was expecting more. I can deal with disappointment.
So...what's the deal on Shrek?
I LOVED the first two...are they REALLY gonna go through with making a 3, 4, and 5? I mean...the good ideas have to run out at some point.

If my opinion on this offends anyone, Sorry. I've just held a grudge on sequels in general since Extremely Goofy Movie came out. But that's another opinion.
I'll get over it in time, but I doubt that'll be anytime soon.
